Welcome to the St Lawrence PTA
A very warm welcome to St Lawrence from the PTA Committee
The St Lawrence PTA is a friendly group of enthusiastic parents and staff who provide a vital and valued supporting role to the school by raising funds, arranging social events and helping out with school activities. Our aim is to ensure that we enhance school life of the children and the whole school community. In short, we aim to make St Lawrence an even better place for all of the children in our midst.
As a parent or carer of a child at St Lawrence, you are automatically a member of the PTA and everyone is welcome to get involved whether manning a stall, face painting at a disco or baking the odd cake or two. We always welcome new ideas!
Our PTA gives you the opportunity to meet other parents and forge a deeper relationship with the school. In the past few years successful fundraising efforts have seen the PTA fund author visits, science days, sports and cookery equipment, flute lessons for all in Year 5, subscriptions to online learning tools such as Mathletics and Spellodrome, dyslexia friendly books and state of the art IT equipment.
To make these things happen we continually organise a number of fun, social fundraising events and other activities such as quiz nights, fairs, discos, race nights and many more throughout the school year.
Beyond fundraising there are many other ways you, as a parent, can get involved in school life at St Lawrence; by helping in the library or with reading, creating lovely displays of the children’s work, and ad hoc support with things like clearing snow, providing refreshments at sports days and welcome evenings.
You can get involved at any level you like from being a committee member or a class rep to giving up half an hour of your time to help out on a stall at the May Fair. The first event is the annual AGM typically held around the end of September – it would be great to see you there to hear about the events for the coming year. We will also be looking for people to lead events or take on a formal role in the PTA.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
